F.A.Q. - Frequently Asked Questions

The should really be called O.A.Q. since most of the questions have only been asked of me once ....

Except the Myspace one - that has been asked a lot.

If you have questions, contact me at and I will post the answers here.
If I have one.

If you have additional information - for example about stations airing Blood Ties in your country - please let me know.

Is it possible to get autographs from the actors?

Where do I send fanmail?

When will the DVDs be released?

In which countries will Blood Ties air? And when?

How many seasons are there - one or two?

Does Kyle Schmid have a MySpace site or a FaceBook?

Where can I buy rings like Henry's?

Where can I get contact lenses like Henry Fitzroy's black vampire eyes?

Do you have a signature intro picture?

My local public library and my school library don't have Tanya Huff's Vicki Nelson novels - how do I get them?

Can I send a script to Kaleidoscope?

Q: Is it possible to get autographs from the actors?

A: See the fanmail response below

Q: Where can I send fanmail?

A: Fanmail to the actors may be sent to:
Send fanmail to and request signed photos from Kaleidoscope:

Kaleidoscope Entertainment Inc.
23 Lesmill Road
Suite 201
Toronto, Ontario
M3B 3P6
Canada

Attn: (actor name)

If you ask for an autographed photo, please enclose a self-addressed envelope with an international reply coupon - unless you have Canadian stamps. The coupon can be purchased at any post office and it can be exchanged locally for the equivalent in Canadian postage.
If you have trouble finding a coupon, you can try sending $10 in a letter, well conceled. The postal services frown on money in letters - but what can you do?

Q: When will the DVDs be released?

A: In an interview, producer Peter Mohan said they will be out at the end of 2007.
In the US (region 1) anyway.
Update: No hints of anything yet, so the US release looks like it will be late 2008 or 2009. At this point, who knows ....

The UK Region 2 version was released on 28th January 2008.

Finally the Australians are getting Blood Ties too!
Blood Ties is airing Tuesday nights at 7.30pm on Fox. Updated 2008 October 08

Sorry - still no news about Scandinavia :-(
Which is particularly annoying since that's where *I* live.

Q: How many seasons are there - one or two?

A: There is one season.
A regular first season, consisting of 22 episodes, was filmed between August 2006 and April 2007. And that's how it will air all over the world.
EXCEPT in the US, where for some reason Lifetime is calling the first 12 episodes Season One and the last 10 episodes for Season Two.
So what the fan campaign is asking for, is a true Season Two with 22 new episodes.

Q: Does Kyle Schmid have a MySpace site or a Facebook?

A: No. Absolutely not.
He found out about the impostors when one of his friends complained that he hadn't responded to his message on MySpace. Kyle posted on the IMDB boards that he didn't have a MySpace - but people there believed that he was an impostor!
He doesn't have a Facebook either.
According to the interview on Bloodlines he avoids the internet like the plague. So if anyone online claims to be Kyle Schmid, he's not.
Okay, not EXACTLY like the plague ;-)

Q: Where can I get rings like Henry's and Vicki's?

A: At Bond's Jewellery, Vancouver -
See pictures of Henry's rings.

Blood Ties title card, 41 kb Q: Do you have a signature intro picture?

A: I sure do.
The larger version is 997 x 561 pixels.

Q: Where can I get contact lenses like Henry Fitzroy's black vampire eyes?

A: Kyle's black vampire eye lenses were made by Contour Contact Lens Ltd.
The are called scleral lenses and they cover almost the entire eye.
It's similar to #34 on their portfolio page, and they cost $400 plus shipping.

Q: My local public library and my school library don't have Tanya Huff's Vicki Nelson novels - how do I get them?

A: Ask the librarians to add them.
Of course by now, there might already be a waiting list to borrow them.
If you like to re-read great books, getting your own copies might be an idea.
The five novels and the eight short stories are collected in three volumes, costing less than $10 each

Q: Can I send a script to Kaleidoscope?

A; Kaleidoscope does not accept unsolicited scripts, so unless you have been solicited to write a script for them, they won't read yours - it will be returned unopened.

I figure the same applies for scripts for non-animated TV:
